About Esprit

The ESPRIT story began in 1996. That was the year Richard, who had always been passionate about music and hi-fi, started making cables. As is often the case in the audio industry, the cables he was making for himself were good enough to attract

the interest of a number of enthusiasts. So Richard found himself making cables for friends. Then, one thing led to another and he set up ESPRIT with one goal in mind:

to make the best cables.

More than 25 years later, the ethos is still the same: select the best materials for each part of each type of cable, then assemble them in the best way possible. Richard often says that it's like a recipe for cooking: if you don't know how to combine the ingredients, you can have the best and still get it wrong. But if you know how to combine them, you can get great results. The ESPRIT range reflects just that : over 20 years of testing and research into every conceivable material.

Words and information are one thing -and important, of course- but what has made ESPRIT so successful over the years is the sonic performance our cables can deliver. That's why listening to music will always be better than talking about the merits of materials and technical applications.

STRUCTURE
All Esprit cables use a symmetrical structure for the conductors and an asymmetrical structure for the dielectrics.
MATERIALS
Esprit only uses OFC copper as a conductor in all ranges. Esprit only uses 5N and 6N OFC copper. 5N copper is 99.999% pure OFC copper and 6N copper is 99.9999% pure OFC copper. We source our copper from a Japanese company that guarantees consistent, high quality.
DIELECTRICAL MATERIALS
Esprit cables use two different dielectric materials: one wire is insulated with a hard dielectric material, the other with a soft one. The result is a more balanced sound performance, with a combination of both qualities.
RELATIVE ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITY
Esprit uses large cross-sections of pure copper, which eliminates the risk of noise generated by an overused conductor. The low resistance of these conductors allows for greater dynamic range across the bandwidth. The multi-strand structure is preferred, with 0.08mm strands on all RCA and speaker cables and 0.32mm strands on XLR interconnects.
CONNECTOR
Esprit uses proprietary pure copper connectors, plated with a 5, 10 and 20 micron pure copper-silver multilayer depending on the range. All connectors are soldered with WBT-0845. The result is a smooth, natural sound with lots of dynamics.
SHIELDING
Esprit has developed progressive shielding. The result is a true combination of the qualities of shielded and unshielded cables in terms of silence, bandwidth, dynamics and detail. Esprit uses only the highest quality materials for its screens, made of pure silver-plated copper
POLARIZATION
From the Eterna range onwards, the dielectrics of our cables are polarised to make them more efficient.
