For those of us who like to listen to recorded music and movie soundtracks, high-performance speakers are a window into the immersive audio experience. People with normal hearing can perceive frequencies of up to 10 octaves from about 20Hz to 20kHz. But most so-called "full frequency" speakers can't actually reproduce the whole range. They perform well at intermediate and high frequencies and require less power and air flow to reproduce, but they usually perform poorly at lower frequencies, often referred to as "bass".
